Personally when I go camping, I'm looking to get off the common road and find a new place for adventure. It's defintely fun and convienant to stop and stay at the nice RV resorts and campgrounds but at the end of the day it's just not the same as finding a spot in the middle of nowhere with no other people in sight.
What typically comes with these adventures though is dirt, sweat, and whatever else makes its way in your hair and clothes. For my wife and I, we just wanted something simple that we could easily transport in our van when traveling that allowed us to quickly open the back doors and rinse off when needed. We didn't see the need to build a stand-in shower in our van so finding the best portable shower for camping was essential for our adventures and journeys.

COOL STUFF
From big brand leaders to budget friendly portable showers, there's something for every adventurer seeking to get lost and dirty. Check out our top 3 portable showers for camping below.
Camping isn't just about getting away from the city lights and smog, it's about enjoyment, relaxation, and comfort. In recent years and especially with the growth of Van Life camping, outdoor gear brands have really elevated the camping experience by helping to make the experience a bit more convenient and pleasant rather than the stressful challenge it can be sometimes. One company taking charge in the portable shower innovation is RinseKit. Simply from our prospective their product has been superior and hasn't let us down yet.
The 4 Gallon RinseKit Cube Portable Shower is an absolute game-changer in the world of outdoor gear and camping accessories. From the mountains to the beach, the RinseKit systems stand out as the leading portable shower solution for camping and outdoor enthusiasts. It offers a large water capacity of four gallons, allowing for extended shower durations or multiple quick rinse-offs.
The RinseKit Cube not only packs some of the better industry leading features but also hits the mark on portability and durability. It's compact, cube shaped design is easy to pack and carry, making it an incredibly user-friendly outdoor gear essential. The Cube uses military-grade materials, has a leak-proof design, and an insulated tank that helps maintain water temperature over time, a feature that truly brings the comfort of home into the wilderness. If budget isn't an option we definitely recommend adding a RinseKit system to your camping essentials.
Alright so a bit different but also substantialy less expensive than the RinseKit, The Nemo Helio Pressure Shower comes in as our runner-up in the portable shower game, bringing with it an inventive blend of design and utility. It's unique foot pump operation provides an easy-to-use, hands-free approach to pressurizing the water, eliminating the need for gravity feeds, hand pumping, or electrical charge. Their innovative system ensures you can enjoy a high-pressure rinse anywhere, whether you're at a desert campsite or rinsing off after a morning surf.
With an impressive 11-liter capacity, the Helio Pressure Shower ensures a consistent and ample water supply for multiple showers. The PU-coated polyester tank not only guarantees durability but also doubles as a solar water heater when left in the sun, offering warm showers even in off-grid locations, which I find to be one of the best features of this system. Additionally, its 7-foot neoprene hose provides excellent reach and flexibility during your shower, making the entire process effortless.
What we also love about the Helio Pressure Shower is it's ease of use and portability. It also collapses into a small, easily transportable kit, fitting seamlessly into any corner of your travel bag or under your car seat. It's blend of size, functionality, and price point makes the Nemo Helio Pressure Shower an ideal choice for campers seeking convenience and a touch of luxury in their outdoor adventures.
When talking about camping, sometimes that means packing in less and even opting to only spending money on the absolute essentials. Some hardcore campers might say that bringing a portable shower isn't necessary or that the cost of these systems doesn't make sense for their particular camping lifestyle.
To me though, it's like one of those things that you never know how good it is until you try it. So to help provide and encourage others to at least experience the convenience a portable shower brings, we wanted to test out and talk about something that isn't so much of an investment and is a bit more budget friendly.
So stepping into our third spot as one of the best portable showers for camping is the Coleman 5-Gallon Solar Shower. Surely if you have ever walked into any sporting goods store, you've heard the name Coleman. It's brand is synonymous with high-quality, budget-friendly outdoor equipment including tents, grills, and clothing. We picked up the Coleman Portable Shower because this option manages to strike an ideal balance between efficiency and affordability, making it an exceptional choice for outdoor enthusiasts on a budget.
The Coleman Solar Shower comes in with the largest water capacity at 5 gallons, which is plenty capable of providing several showers for everyone at camp. It uses a heat-locking material and leverages solar energy to warm the water, offering you the comfort of a warm shower for some of those colder camping nights. This solar heating feature ensures you can enjoy a warm rinse without requiring any electrical power, thus saving energy and cost.
The important thing to remember with this product is that it's a bit more involved in order to use. Unlike the RinseKit that uses an electric motor to pressurize the system, or the Helio which uses a foot pump, the Coleman relies on gravity to do its job. In order to get the most out of your shower you need to hang it high enough to allow the water to build pressure on itself and make its way down the hose. While the system definitely works, it lacks pressure and convenience compared to the other two options. However, at the end of the day we can only expect so much when comparing this budget friendly system that only costs $25 bucks to the RinseKit that comes in at $389.
At the end of the day, I look at this option to be your entry level camping shower. See if this is even something you would regularly use while camping and explore upgrades and other options as you need. Either way, get out there, get dirty, and have some fun.
